The Grand Haven schools had a board meeting last week (it was probably last week) at Lakeshore. A couple students were asked to talk about how awesome Lakeshore is, (don't get me wrong, it is awesome) and guess who was one of them? Who else.
I talked about the team building exercises we do at the beginning of 6th grade. White Pines doesn't do it. Only Lakeshore.
Apparently the whole thing was taped for television (I was really excited here) but nobody watches it because it only shows stuff like board meetings (Angry here cause nobody but people who were there saw me).
It's understandable. Unless your on the board, you wouldn't be interested until they tell you what they decide.
This board meeting was about the recent budget cuts made by the new governor, (who I totally disapprove of, BTW) and specifically what they need to get rid of because of it. I want you readers to know I DID NOT vote for this guy (not that I can vote yet) and I can't believe that he would do that. What this basically means is that all he cares enough to have us learn is enough so that we can pass the MEAP, and then were on our own. And the MEAP is just standards the state wants us to know before they fund our schools. This guy is unbelievably rude.
Bye for now, but I swear I'll post again.

:) FINALLY, another post!
ReplyDeleteI've been to a few board meetings. Recently, the school board was talking about how my school shouldn't do canoeing. It's "too dangerous"!
Well, running is dangerous too. I just read Where the Red Fern Grows thank you very much! (Cough-Rubin-Cough) So we can only canoe if we have a lifeguard and are all wearing life jackets!
:(
I don't care much for my superintendent.
Hoping her school system gets better,
Tai Tai
You have canoes????!!!!! And your unhappy????!!! All we have is an empty swimming pool!!! Me thinks I should move.
